Anti-American Hysteria in FYROM after State Department’s Human Rights Report

Several FYROM’s pro-government media and VMRO-DPMNE’s high party officials launched an anti-American campaign, after State Department’s human rights report about FYROM.

The  latest report of the State Department blasted FYROM for freedom and human rights abuses and failings, including  freedom of media, judiciary, police and other segments.

A former spokesman of FYROM’s leading party asked “why the State Department has no report on Guantanamo“.  Other pro-government “analysts” in FYROM’s press accused the State Department to be “irrelevant” when assessing human rights and freedoms  in the country.

This hypocritical behavior illustrates how human rights concerns about others, are cynically exploited as a convenient instrument by FYROM’s nationalistic government and its mouthpieces.

There is a huge industry of FYROM’s political elite and  their diaspora who love to prance around together condemning the rights abuses of other people’s governments, especially of the neighbourging countries.

They are the same exact people who love to forget that FYROM has been constantly a notorious violator and prefer to turn a blind eye condemning human rights abuses by their own.

Officials from the Albanian party BDI distanced their own party from the ill rhetoric of their coalition partner. They argued that this is generally a good report and an important instrument from the international allies which is aimed at serving the country and government for achieving greater quality and efficiency in the reforms.
