Heusgen: Gruevski’s Nationalistic Policies Do Not Make Things Any Easier
Christoph Heusgen, head of the department for foreign, security and development policy of the German Government, spoke about the Name Issue at the first conference of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin.
As Deutsche Welle reports, Heusgen stated that the name issue is high on German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s agenda, eventhough perhaps it does not seem so. He added that the German Chancellor is making effort to make sure this issue is resolved.
Heusgen explained on that occasion that the name issue had been tabled at a prior meeting between the Greek Prime Minister Samaras and Chancellor Merkel as well and that Samaras said at the time that compromises were impossible because of the economic crisis in Greece.
Heusgen who is one of Chancellor Merkel’s closest foreign policy associates, also blamed the Nationalistic Policies of FYROM’s PM Nikola Gruevski.
“Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski is leading a very nationalistic policy and there is almost no town where a sculpture of Alexander the Great has not been mounted. This situation is not making things any easier yet you can be assured that this issue is frequently on our agenda,” he added.FYROM News, Macedonian News comment below, or link to this permanent URL from your own site.
